BY KATHIE DURBIN, Columbian staff writer
"With proposals for a destination resort on its Washington side, a tribal casino across the river in Oregon and towering wind turbines on its borders, the future of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is fraught with uncertainty 21 years after its creation by Congress."

I agree with this completely, thanks for the post.
The article: "Seats for the event, which costs $50 and includes lunch, have been filling up fast. The venue can hold 140, and 100 had registered as of Aug. 29, said Jessica Metta, a staff planner for the Columbia River Gorge Commission."
I would have hoped that the Gorge Commission would have reserved a large percentage of these tickets for people who live and work in the Gorge as opposed to the people who live elsewhere and whose goal has been to make the Gorge a playground for themselves.
Ever been beyond 3 mile canyon? There will soon be new entertainment out there.

From the PNW Motorsport Park Web Site:
"Pacific Northwest Motorsports Park™ “PNMP” will be the first of its kind in the Northwest - a 700 acre Motorsports Country Club for motoring enthusiasts - including sports cars, race cars, motorcycles and karting. Just as a golf country club centers its activities on a golf course, this club centers around a road racing course designed and built for fun and competition. A 6.0+ mile road course that will be made up of an east track, west track, north track and full track. Think of PNMP as a place that its members go to satisfy their "want to open up their throttle and let it rip". Many people own a sport or high performance car, or even a vintage race car. PNMP is a place to explore the potential of these cars and for the drivers to develop and practice their skills. PNMP offers convenience and accessibility for its members who are able to treat performance driving as a sport or a hobby.
Practice driving skills on one of three road racing courses, a 2.0 mile north track, a 2.21 mile west track and a 2.05 mile east track and a full circuit course.
The overall 6.0+ mile road course has 8 different configurations.
Attend performance and safety driving schools at all levels
Conduct a business meeting, and take your client for hot laps
Store your automobile at the club
Have your car professionally maintained at the club.
Participate in fun competitive racing
The over all facility also will be home to numerous sports car and motorcycle related businesses catering to the enthusiasts.
PNMP will exist primarily for the enjoyment of its members, but a limited amount of time will also be made available to car clubs for their events as well as professional Motorsports sanctioned events."
