On Anonymous Editors

I want to highlight the interesting comment by squeakwheel who has left a new comment on the post "Poster Competition... "Nights in White salmon" :

This has nothing to do with the poster competition, but rather the letter to the Editor in last week's paper. An individual thought everyone who posts on the Blog should identify themselves. That is the purpose of a blog - to share ideas and thoughts without any consideration to who is actually stating them. Isn't it weird that so much is weighted on who you are when you speak as compared to what you are saying? Well, here on this post, it is what you are saying that is being weighted - not who you are. Thanks for the Blog - whoever you are!!!

Thank you for that squeakywheel. Some people are just plain shy and don't feel they can speak out in a small town for various reasons. If someone needs to know who is saying what at all times, then they could go to other sources for information. This blogspot also allows for comments posted anonymously or not, too. The editors are just hoping to facilitate participation in the public life of our region.

The link that you have posted for the White Salmon Arts Council is wrong. The official website for the WSAC is: www.whitesalmonarts.org
The information on the poster contest is also wrong. The correct information is on the WSAC website. The deadline is June 15 and the contact person is John Mayo. Please correct the information. Thank you.

To Janet Holen:

WSAC has no treasurer. According to whitesalmon.com WASC has no VP, no board- just Mayo and Ueland.

whitesalmon.com for a year or more has been the number one search site on google for WASC- and no the page has not been static. It has routinely been altered, like a subtle message board.

http://www.whitesalmon.com

http://www.whitesalmon.com/ContactUs.htm

http://www.whitesalmon.com/Index.htm

Why does WASC have two sites, one for profit the other a non-profit? It'd be worth finding out who's been sponsoring the .com site. Follow the money. And check out the .com site crossed against that post you took issue with- .com is VERY interesting.

It's a shadow org.- so follow the money.

You are wrong. The WSAC does have a treasurer and it is me. We have two bank accounts at Riverview Community Bank. One for checking and the other for scholarships. There is nothing to be suspicious of.

The White Salmon Arts Council is incorporated in the State of Washington as a non-profit. At the federal level we are designated as a 501c4. We have bylaws filed with the state. The officers are John Mayo, President, Tim Middaugh, Vice President, Rishell Graves, Secretary, Janet Holen, Treasurer. The three directors are Pam Morneault, Margie Welch, Joan Ahlers. Bill Whidden is our registered agent.

We invite you to come to our meetings. We meet every other week on the porch on the Inn of the White Salmon at 8:30 am. The next meeting is 6/16. We have 52 paid members including the White Salmon Boat Works/Ray Klebba and Julie Ueland. The official website is www.whitesalmonarts.org. The board and members are listed on it.
Frequent attendees at our meetings include Elizabeth See, Dale Connell from Riverview Bank and Lee Musgrave from Maryhill Museum.

Early in the formation of the White Salmon Arts Council Robin Knoke offered a his domain, whitesalmon.com for our use. We used that for awhile but decided we wanted our own domain. So the official website, www.whitesalmonarts.org, was born.

If there has been changes to Robin's website, it is not us doing it. We have our own webmaster who keeps our website up to date.

I hope this helps clarify the situation.

I'm sorry. I misspoke. The next meeting of the White Salmon Arts Council is Tuesday June 19 (not 16) at the Inn of the White Salmon at 8:30am. The meetings last no longer that 10am.

I for one think that the Arts people are doing a great job in helping to restore the downtown.

I watched the lumber money dry up in the eighties and I saw just about no-one doing anything about keeping the downtown going. THe downtown is the face of white Salmon folks!

Anybody have a better Idea?

It IS important to hold organizatios accountable but In this case "Wolf egsd"(if that is your real name!) goes way beyond that and insinuates corruption. Lets be fair.

Who is profiting from the downtown arts theme and development? I'd say the merchants, the citizens and ultimately the city in sales taxes and business liscenses.

Lead follow or get out of the way. Its that simple. I am glad someone in this town is leading something positive.

It's a valid question why are there two sites promoting themselves as the council?

whitesalmon.com is registed through

www.networksolutions.com

as is

julieueland.com

johnmayodesign.com is not
affiliated with networksolutions.

I'm sure there are a ton of organizations that have vestiges out there of old websites that have been forgotten about. It sounds like they started off with the .com and moved over to a .org.

The .com is obviously incomplete and out of date as far as I can see....

Hardly a "shadow" conspiracy.

Actually, I think there IS a vast downtown conspiracy. I think the members of the Arts council secretly send messages and signals through the .com site.

That way they can keep their identities hidden from one another and from all of us.

I have heard they were hoods at their meetings and burn... Oops, I was thinking of the KKK.

Nevermind

Network Solutions is such a small company. The fact that WSAC and Euland both have used it must certainly point to a conspiracy.
